Q: My Bath/Sink is draining slowly. What does this mean?

This could mean there is a blockage in the pipe work before it meets the gully, where the bath discharges. This Kind of blockage is normally caused by a build up of hair and products such as soaps and shower gels. The best solution is to disconnect the pipe work and clean out the debris. The pipe work may need to be de-scaled to return it back to its most efficient state.

Q: There’s a terrible smell coming from my drains?

Smelly drains can be a sign of a blockage in your drains, strong disinfectants can help to minimise odours as a first option, however very often the smell is caused by a build up of fat, grease and oil. Acton’s water jetting service can be used to de-scale the drains and removes any blockages or build up of grease. There are some easy housekeeping methods that can help eliminate odours and potential blockages, the simplest method is to pour all left over fats and grease into old bottles and throw it in the bin and the same for any waste food etc that you wouldn’t want clogging up your drains.
